390 INCHES TOTAL COLLECTED AT ITS NOT YOUR REGULAR CUTTIN
Friday, March 11, 2011

KISSIMMEE, FL (February 23, 2011): Thirty-six men and women aging from 4-64 participated in one of the most thoughtfulness and honorable act kindest during the 126th Silver Spurs Rodeo Hair Cuttin.
One man and thirty-seven young girls and women collectively donated 390 inches of hair.  It was unbelievable, says Henry Kempfer, Big Boss of the Silver Spurs Rodeo.  It brought tears to most peoples eyes, has these great folks stepped up and participated in such a great cause, Kempfer continued.
All took place in conjunction with the Tough Enough to Wear Pink promotion at the Friday, February 18th Rodeo. Not only did Silver Spurs Members and rodeo fans wear pink to show their support, but these volunteers have grown their long locks to donate towards the making of wigs for cancer patients that lost their hair due to medical treatment.
Prior to the first bucking bull, a dozen of the donors had their hair cut by the stylists from Double J Salon & Spa in the center of the arena floor.  During the rodeo, supporters of this cause joined in the Cuttin by visiting the temporary salon in place on concourse at the Silver Spurs Arena throughout the whole weekend.
We were amazed at the amount of donors that came to the rodeo just to donate their hair, and even more about the people that just decided that evening to cut their hair, explained Lisa Johnson, Owner of the Double J Salon & Spa.
The longs locks will be donated to the national Pantene Beautiful Lengths program.  For more information about the Double J Salon & Spa call 407-892-4080.
The 126th PRCA Silver Spurs Rodeo, the largest rodeo in the Southeast bucked into action February 18-20 at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Florida.    The Silver Spurs Riding Club, a non-profit organization, is a volunteer based Osceola County tradition since 1942.  Club members dedicate endless hours to the clubs events such as the bi-annual Silver Spurs Rodeo of Champions to promote good horsemanship and fellowship and to continue a lifelong tradition. For additional information on the Silver Spurs Rodeo of Champions, call 407-67-RODEO (76336) or go to http://www.silverspursrodeo.com.
