Red Bluff Rodeo donates $25,000
Wednesday, April 28, 2010

By Johnna Espinoza from ProRodeo.com

Pink chaps and a Tough Enough to Wear Pink Buckle were the big ticket auction items at the Red Bluff Calif. Round-Up which helped raise about $25,000 for the St. Elizabeth Community Hospital Imaging Center.

Mother and son, Rose Crain and Dan Davidson, purchased both the chaps and the buckle for $20,000. The community pitched in the additional $5,000.

All of the money raised in the auction will be used to provide mammograms and diagnostic testing for those in need. The Red Bluff committee has raised $60,000 to help fight breast cancer in the past four years.
The auction and the fun-filled Tehama Country Rodeo Week were among the highlights of the 89th Red Bluff Round-Up, which concluded April 18.

Round-Up community festivities ran April 10-17 and featured an international chili cook-off, parade, cowboy poetry, car show and much more.

We helped promote the whole week, said David Ramelli, committee president. Our theory is that’s it is not just the three-day rodeo. It is the whole festival around the rodeo.

The rodeo, a Silver stop on the Wrangler Million Dollar Tour presented by Justin Boots, was held April 16-18.

The rodeo committee launched a Facebook page this year and continued to reach out to the community to help grow their audience.

We have a good rodeo fan base, but we have to keep filling it with our young people, Ramelli said.

The committee gave out 2,000 admission vouchers to school children, grades kindergarten through fifth grade. The students brought their parents and other family members with them to the rodeo.

We had almost a 60 percent return on those, Ramelli said. The voucher we gave out turned into two more rodeo tickets.

Red Bluff’s committee again offered its Stimulus Package on Friday night, with incentive pricing of four tickets for $24.

We hope to make rodeo fans for life, Ramelli said.

Special Thanks to the PRCA and the Red Bluff Rodeo from the staff at Tough Enough to Wear Pink!
